We refer to the recent scandal regarding milk and milk products of Chinese origins that were contaminated with melamine, a chemical used in the manufacture of durable household products like plastic dinnerware and cutlery. Suppliers - be it the farmers or the dairies - are suspected of diluting milk to cut costs, then adding melamine to make it appear higher in protein.
Gardenia wishes to state that we do not use milk or milk-related products from China. The milk products used in selected Gardenia bread products are imported from New Zealand and Australia and are free from melamine.
We wish to therefore reassure all our consumers that Gardenia products with dairy ingredients are free of melamine and safe for human consumption.
Gardenia believes strongly in ensuring that our consumers enjoy the finest quality and freshest bread daily. We take our Gardenia Assurance very seriously and would like to assure our consumers of Gardenia's commitment to the highest quality, food safety and freshness, and to reassure all Gardenia consumers that Gardenia will continue to observe the highest quality standards and exercise stringent vigilance to ensure our bread is of the finest quality.
