Egg Pie

Ingredients
  1. 1 pack Gardenia Hokkaido Butter Rolls
  2. 2 tbsp All Purpose Flour
  3. 1¼ cup Whole Milk
  4. ¾ cup Water
  5. 1 cup White Sugar
  6. 6 pcs Egg Yolks
  7. ½ tbsp Vanilla

Method

  1. Preheat the oven or toaster to 140°C.
  2. Get a piece of Gardenia Hokkaido Butter Rolls and cut a circle in the middle, only half way through the bun. Press down the center to create a space for the filling.
  3. Toast for 3 minutes then set aside.
  4. Dissolve sugar in a bowl of hot water and set aside. In a separate bowl, mix flour and ¼ cup of the milk.
  5. In a saucepan, heat the remaining 1 cup of milk. Continue stirring to prevent the milk from burning. When it simmers, add the sugar, vanilla and water mixture.
  6. Transfer the mixture into the bowl of flour and milk, whisking to prevent lumps. Let the mixture cool down.
  7. Whisk in one egg yolk at a time. Strain in a container and pour into the toasted bun.
  8. Bake the small pies for 10 mins or until firm.
  9. Serve while hot.
